The megaproject most anticipated by the people of Paisa continues to gain ground. The Mayor’s Office of Medellín and the Secretariat of Physical Infrastructure confirmed that the works on the 80 Metro entered a crucial stage in the northern sector of the city.
Currently, crews are working at full speed on the foundation of the 17 columns that will support the imposing Caribe Viaduct, an elevated structure that will transform mobility in this area of influence of the fire station.
Jaime Andrés Naranjo Medina, Secretary of Physical Infrastructure, explained that these interventions are vital to guarantee the stability and durability of what will be the city’s third mass transportation system.
To date, the construction of the piles of supports 1 and 2 has already been completed, and at this moment the heavy machinery is focused on raising the third support. To achieve this, it was necessary to implement a total and definitive closure on 75B Street, so drivers who regularly travel there will have to be patient and look for alternative routes.

This work front, which began with force under the Mico bridge at the end of 2025, already shows significant progress in steel reinforcement and concrete pouring. “Each intervention responds to rigorous technical planning. Our objective is to build with quality and safety standards,” Secretary Naranjo assured.

The closure on 75B Street is added to the connection loop from Carrera 64A to Regional, essential measures so that the gigantic piling machine can operate without putting passers-by at risk.
The Mobility Secretariat recalled that there is an active Traffic Management Plan (PMT) with clear signage to mitigate traffic jams in the Caribbean sector.
Citizens are recommended to pay attention to the official channels of the 80 Metro to find out about updated detours.
