In a surveillance operation, the authorities managed to capture a man who was caught intimidating and attacking a taxi driver in the Calasanz neighborhood (Comuna 12).
The events occurred during night patrol work, when uniformed officers assigned to the CAI Santa Lucía detected unusual behavior on the road: a parked taxi with both front doors wide open.
Suspecting an emergency, the police proceeded to carry out an immediate verification.
As they approached, the scene confirmed the danger. The taxi driver cried for help, denouncing that the subject sitting in the co-driver’s seat was assaulting him.

When the authorities surprised him, the aggressor tried to get rid of the evidence by throwing a 38 caliber revolver into the taxi and fled on foot. However, the reaction of the uniformed officers was lethally timely: the suspect was subdued and captured a few meters away.
From the mayor’s office of Medellín, it was highlighted that this blow to crime is not an isolated event, but rather the direct result of the strengthening of night patrols in the road corridors in the west of the city.
The captured person, the seized weapon and the victim’s testimony were made available to the Attorney General’s Office.
