A significant blow to the finances of the FARC dissidents took place in the department of Huila. The Traffic and Transportation Directorate of the National Police seized 1,400 kilos of marijuana on the Popayán – La Portada road, in the jurisdiction of the municipality of Isnos.

The shipment, which was prevented from distributing more than two million doses, belonged to the Dagoberto Ramos Front of the GAO-r EMC, a criminal structure associated with alias Iván Mordisco.

The seizure was achieved thanks to the information provided by a human source who alerted about a public service truck that covered the Cali – Pitalito route.

During the inspection, the uniformed officers found the narcotic cleverly hidden inside panels adapted to simulate a cold room in the vehicle.

In the operation, the Police also managed to capture the truck driver, who was placed at the disposal of the competent authorities.

This shipment represents a significant economic impact on the criminal group:

• Value in Colombia: It is estimated between 1,100 and 1,600 million pesos.
• Value in International Market: It could exceed 2.5 million dollars.

The National Police reiterated its commitment to not allow the road corridors of Huila and southwestern Colombia to be used as drug trafficking routes, and will continue to implement strict controls to prevent the use of public service vehicles in illicit activities.
