A new case of timely citizen reaction made it possible to thwart a robbery attempt in the north of Bogotá. The Police captured a 33-year-old man who was trying to force his way into a home in the Polo Club sector, in the town of Barrios Unidos, and who also had 12 judicial notes for theft.
The incident occurred when several residents noticed suspicious movements in a house in the neighborhood and immediately alerted the authorities through Line 123. With the information provided, a patrol arrived at the point and, after obtaining authorization from the owners, entered the property to verify the situation.
Inside the house they found the suspect, who was apparently trying to take several objects. The man was arrested in flagrante delicto and placed at the disposal of the Prosecutor’s Office for the crime of trespassing.

During the background check, the authorities confirmed that the captured man had been caught committing similar crimes on multiple occasions. A judge decided to impose a security measure on him in a prison facility.

The authorities highlighted that this year theft from residences in Bogotá has shown a 2% reduction, and they highlighted that more than 32,800 people have been captured for various crimes thanks to permanent controls and patrols.
The Police reiterated the call to citizens to report any suspicious situation. “Line 123 is key to reacting in time and preventing criminals from continuing to affect the community,” they insisted.
