Minute30.com .- President Gustavo Petro spoke about the high risk of the death of minors in military operations, pointing out that “to the extent that the percentage of minors in forced recruitment is high, the death of minors in combat can occur. The statement comes in the context of recent operations against armed groups.
Petro stated that, in the 12 bombing actions ordered during his government, he has requested “maximum intelligence” to prevent the death of minors. He stressed that these operations have focused on “neutralizing drug group commanders.”
Liberation and Peace Goal
The president reiterated that his “peace offer sought above all to free minors from war.” He noted that, to date, his government has managed to free 2,411 children from the armed conflict, an effort that, according to the president, has been successful for “different reasons.”
Bombings in Guaviare
Referring to recent operations, such as the one that occurred in the Guaviare jungles, Petro defended the military strategy. He explained that in remote areas, “very far from any populated place and with little intelligence,” his priority was “preserving, above all, the lives of soldiers exposed to a lethal offensive action.”
