The emergency, reported around 8:30 am, occurred next to the El Lido Police station and forced the immediate presence of the Cali Fire Department units, who managed to control the flames before they spread to neighboring structures.

According to the official report, five establishments were completely consumed and another twenty establishments were affected by fire and smoke.

The District Risk Management System (SDGR) confirmed that the fire was controlled and that emergency agencies remain in the area carrying out cooling and debris removal tasks.

The authorities keep the sector of 1st Street and 52nd Street cordoned off, and made a call to avoid traffic through the area while the inspection work progresses.

Although the causes of the fire are still the subject of investigation, hypotheses are being considered such as a possible short circuit, a gas leak or improper handling of flammable materials.
