The Attorney General’s Office opened an investigation against a man who kept 14 Creole dogs in critical conditions in his home in the Trinidad neighborhood, in Cali. The complaint was made by residents of the sector, who warned that the animals were in serious risk and had even attacked each other.

The fact was verified on March 26, 2024, when the authorities went to the property. At the scene they found an alarming panorama: one of the dogs had died, ten were in precarious conditions of hygiene and without access to food, and three were in a skeletal state.

All the animals were rescued and transferred to a specialized center, where they received veterinary care with the aim of beginning their rehabilitation.

According to reports, the canines remained overcrowded, caged and without access to water or food, which put their health and well-being at risk. The images taken during the intervention show the animals in critical conditions, evidencing the seriousness of the situation.

The person responsible for the dogs, identified as Eduardo Rodríguez, was summoned by the Prosecutor’s Office through the Group to Fight Animal Abuse (Gelma) and was charged with the crime of animal abuse. The investigation will continue to determine possible sanctions and ensure the protection of the animals.

This case once again highlights the importance of citizen surveillance and the rapid action of the authorities to prevent animal abuse in the city.
