The Colombian Olympic Committee (COC) was the setting for the official launch of the IFSC Armenia 2025 Pan American Cup of Sport Climbing, an event that will take place in the capital of Quindío from November 21 to 27.
The press conference, held this Thursday, November 13, was attended by prominent figures such as Ciro Solano Hurtado, president of the COC and Lizette Manrique, president of the Colombian Sports Climbing Federation.
Also present were David Acosta, director of sports positioning and leadership of the Ministry, and the athletes of the national team, Violeta Torres and Tomás Arce.
During his speech, Ciro Solano Hurtado highlighted the potential and energy of this sport, which is relatively young in Colombia.
The COC president expressed his absolute confidence in the success of the Pan American Cup and assured the athletes that sport climbing will be a priority for the Committee, given its status as an Olympic sport.
This institutional support underlines the growing importance of the discipline in the national sports landscape and its alignment with the country’s high performance objectives.
For her part, Lizette Manrique, president of the Colombian Sports Climbing Federation, emphasized the transcendental meaning of the contest.
Manrique described the Pan American Cup as “the reflection of years of work, of dreams that have been escalating step by step and the effort of a community that firmly believes that sport has the power to transform lives.”
His words highlighted the competition not only as an athletic event, but as the culmination of a community process and a platform for social change through sport.
