Minute30.com .- The National Government has become the majority shareholder of the Nueva EPS, the largest Health Promotion Entity in the country. This strategic action materialized after the family compensation funds gave up part of their participation, allowing the State to reach 51% of the property. This change gives the Government full control of the entity starting next week.
Change of owner
Previously, the New EPS operated as a mixed entity, where control rested with the family compensation funds, which owned 50.1% of the shares, leaving the Government with a minority stake. The savings banks that transferred part of their shareholding to the Government were: Colsubsidio, CAFAM, Compensar, Confenalco Valle, Confenalco Antioquia and Confandi.
Relief in Management
The takeover was accompanied by an immediate replacement in the management of the EPS. Gloria Polanía, who had been in the position of auditor for a few weeks, was dismissed. Óscar Gálvez, an official known for having intervened in other EPSs during the current administration, was appointed to replace him, which underlines the Government’s intention to exercise strict control over the management of the entity.
