A multiple accident recorded at the intersection known as La Y de Yomasa, in the town of Usme, left one person dead and generated a strong disruption in mobility in the south of the capital on the morning of this Wednesday, December 10.
The accident occurred on Caracas Avenue and Boyacá Avenue, when a cargo truck lost its brakes in the middle of the road, triggering a chain collision.
According to preliminary reports, the heavy vehicle lost control while descending the road corridor, overturning and hitting a motorcycle, a private vehicle, several motorcyclists and a pedestrian who was passing through the area. The force of the impact left a fatal victim at the scene, whose death was confirmed by the authorities.

The multiple accident caused a considerable impact on traffic, especially in the passage of the feeder buses of the TransMilenio system, which faced delays and detours due to the obstruction generated by the accident.
Traffic units, the Guide Group, Civil Agents and emergency teams went to the scene to attend to those affected, control vehicular traffic and carry out investigation work. The area remained closed while forensics carried out the survey and technical inspection of the accident.
According to Bogotá Tránsito, at 10:28 am the investigative work was completed and passage through the intersection was enabled again. It is currently unknown if the accident left more people injured.
Authorities called on drivers to travel with caution in high-flow corridors.
