The morning of this Saturday, November 8, was marked by a serious road tragedy inside the Cali World Cup Tunnel, where a spectacular accident left one person dead and at least three injured.
According to preliminary information, two cars and two motorcycles were involved in the accident. Apparently, one of the vehicles lost control inside the tunnel, causing a multiple collision that ended with one of the cars overturning on the road.
The images show the destroyed motorcycles and the rescue efforts of the injured. Criminalistics units carried out the removal of the body of the fatal victim, while the injured were urgently transferred to different healthcare centers.

The Cali Mobility Secretariat temporarily closed the passage through the World Cup Tunnel to facilitate the inspection and removal of vehicles. Traffic congestion lasted for several hours while authorities worked at the site.

The exact causes of the accident are still under investigation, although authorities do not rule out excessive speed or driving under the influence of alcohol as possible factors.
The Cali Mayor’s Office and the Metropolitan Police reiterated the call for drivers to respect speed limits and traffic rules to avoid tragedies such as the one that occurred in the Cali World Cup Tunnel.
