The fight against illegal pickets was once again felt in the streets of Medellín. The Mobility authorities revealed the results of the most recent operation carried out in the northeast of the city, specifically in the commune of Aranjuez, where this risky practice has been gaining ground in recent months.

In the intervention, carried out at night, 133 summonses were imposed and the immobilization of 60 motorcycles and 2 private vehicles was recorded.

The operation was part of the joint plan maintained by the Ministry of Mobility and the Police to stop the picketing, an activity that not only creates risk for the drivers involved, but also for pedestrians and users of the transportation system.

Citizen reports have also documented the expansion of these illegal maneuvers towards corridors that were not previously the scene of these practices. In addition to the traditional Las Palmas road, the pickets have now moved to the 4 South Street bridge and the section of the Metroplús system between the Palos Verdes and Aranjuez stations, a situation that has caused operational disruptions and serious accidents.

The authorities insist on sanctions, which can reach $604,100 according to the Traffic Code, in addition to the immobilization of the vehicle.
