The Colombian Ministry of Sports announced the allocation of $9.7 billion to pay incentives to athletes and coaches who won medals in various world championships and multi-sport events corresponding to the Olympic, Paralympic and Deaflympic cycles.
This was communicated by the Colombian Olympic Committee through its platform, news that undoubtedly brightens the days of our sporting heroes.
This effort, as indicated, seeks to settle pending commitments and will benefit a total of 308 athletes and 164 coaches for their outstanding achievements.
The Minister of Sports, Patricia Duque, expressed her satisfaction for focusing resources and fulfilling these important commitments to the sports community.
The payments cover the medals obtained in 20 international events held in 2023, although the resources for the disbursement come from the validity of 2025.
Among the most notable competitions for which these incentives were appropriated are the I Junior Cali Pan American Games.

Likewise, the XII South American Games Asunción, the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games El Salvador 2023, and the crucial XIX Pan American Games and VII major Parapan American Games, both held in Santiago 2023.
This is not the first disbursement made by the Ministry this year. Last June, a payment of around $1.8 billion had already been arranged, which on that occasion benefited 249 athletes and para-athletes, as well as 163 coaches.
With the new injection of resources for $9.7 billion, the Ministry seeks to catch up and recognize the excellence of the athletes who have represented the country in the highest international competitions.
Finally, the Ministry of Sports called on all athletes and para-athletes who are among the beneficiaries to pay attention to official notifications.
These communications are essential so that they can complete the necessary procedures and the respective financial disbursements that recognize their effort and dedication can be carried out without setbacks.
