Minute30.com .- Migration Colombia confirmed in the last few hours that the nine adults belonging to the controversial Lev Tahor sect will be expelled from the country. This decision was made after the adults were surprised in a hotel in Yarumal, Antioquia, in the company of 17 minors of Canadian, Guatemalan and American nationalities.
This is a discretionary measure that allows the country to remove them from the national territory for constituting a threat to national security, despite the fact that the entity considers that, for the moment, in Colombia they cannot be charged with any flagrante delicto.
Despite the administrative measure, the Attorney General’s Office is still evaluating the material collected during the operation to determine whether to open criminal proceedings against the nine adults, in which they could be charged with crimes such as kidnapping, human trafficking, and conspiracy to commit crimes against minors.

Five minors with international alerts
The seriousness of the case lies in the fact that five of the 17 rescued minors have a valid Interpol Yellow Circular, which indicates that they had been reported missing. Migración Colombia explained that these alerts appeared in the system only during November. In addition, eight alerts for risk of being a trafficking victim were found in other citizens and minors present.

Immigration confirmed that the Interpol and human trafficking alerts did not exist in their systems at the time of the adults and minors’ entry into the country, which is why they were allowed entry.
Apparently, the intention of the members of Lev Tahor was to settle on a farm in Yarumal, which, if it had materialized, would have made it difficult for the authorities to act as it was private property.
Currently, the minors are in the custody of the ICBF. The entity has reported that the children are in good health and, for the moment, do not present any signs of physical or sexual violence. The ICBF continues with the protection route to safeguard the well-being of the 17 rescued minors.
