In a coordinated operation that lasted more than five hours on Primero de Mayo Avenue, in the town of Antonio Nariño, the authorities managed to recover an important stretch of public space that had been invaded by workshops, sales of vehicles and motorcycles, as well as irregular parking on the platforms.

The intervention included the participation of more than 80 uniformed officers from the Metropolitan Police, along with personnel from the Secretariats of Security, Government, Mobility, DADEP, Local Mayor’s Office and Migration Colombia.

During the first hours of the mega-occupation, incidents occurred with two people who attacked public officials while they were carrying out the recovery work of the public space. Thanks to the quick reaction of the authorities, both attackers were captured and will be prosecuted for the crime of assault on a public servant.

After overcoming these inconveniences, the authorities continued with the operation, achieving the recovery of 1,200 linear meters of public space between races 30 and 27, one of the sections most affected by the improper occupation of the platforms. In addition, 11 sealings were carried out on establishments that had converted public spaces into extensions of their businesses.

The Ministry of Mobility, for its part, imposed 105 summonses and ordered the immobilization of 17 vehicles and motorcycles that were parked irregularly, thus reinforcing security and mobility in the area.

The operation seeks to guarantee the proper use of public space and protect passers-by in one of the busiest corridors in the southeast of Bogotá, in addition to generating a clear message about zero tolerance against the invasion of these spaces and aggression against the officials in charge of ensuring order.
