A coordinated deployment of authorities in strategic sectors of western Medellín resulted in the capture of eight people and the seizure of weapons, narcotics and vehicles with irregularities. The actions were carried out simultaneously in the Laureles-Estadio and San Javier communes, as part of a territorial control and crime prevention strategy.

The procedures were carried out by the Metropolitan Police of the Aburrá Valley, with the accompaniment of the National Army and units of the district administration. More than 200 uniformed officers participated in the sessions, during which searches were carried out on people, vehicles and motorcycles, in addition to background checks and mobility controls.

According to the official balance, during the operations more than 250 searches were carried out on citizens, as well as inspections of 60 cars and 320 motorcycles. These actions made it possible to identify various criminal behaviors related to illegal possession of weapons, drug trafficking, theft, receipt and falsification of documents and identification systems.

One of the most relevant events occurred in the Suramericana neighborhood, where uniformed officers intervened in an alleged robbery attempt against a woman. Upon noticing the police presence, two men fled, which began a chase that culminated with their interception at close range. During the procedure, the authorities found in his possession a 9 millimeter caliber firearm, ammunition, a supplier and a sound suppression device. Additionally, it was established that the motorcycle on which they were traveling had alterations in its identification systems.

During the general operation, four motorcycles that were listed as stolen were also recovered, as well as the seizure of 482 doses of narcotic substances and 62 sharp weapons. These elements were made available to the competent authorities as evidentiary material within the judicial processes.

The captured people were left at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office, which will hold the corresponding hearings for the crimes charged. The authorities indicated that these results are part of a sustained strategy of institutional presence in different areas of the city.

Finally, it was reported that this type of operations will continue to be carried out in different communes of Medellín, with the objective of strengthening control, preventing criminal acts and responding to the security dynamics that occur in the territory.
