In Medellín, a woman was held against her will and subjected to physical and psychological attacks by her romantic partner, who also reportedly demanded money from the victim’s mother to free her. The events were recorded between February 6 and 8, 2026 in the Manrique neighborhood, according to the authorities.
According to the investigation led by the Attorney General’s Office, Johan Stiven Marino would be the alleged person responsible for the events. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the man kept the woman hidden in a house, where he hit her several times with blunt objects until she lost consciousness. Meanwhile, he called the victim’s mother to request two million pesos in exchange for not attacking her daughter’s life and releasing her.
The National Police, through Gaula units, captured Marino in a joint operation. During the procedure, four cell phones and cash were seized, elements that could be used as evidence in the judicial process.

Subsequently, a Gaula prosecutor from the Special Directorate against Criminal Organizations presented the detainee before a criminal judge for control of guarantees, charging him with the crimes of extortionate kidnapping and torture. Marino did not accept the charges and was placed in custody in a prison.
The case has raised awareness about domestic violence and extortion, reinforcing the work of the authorities to prevent and address these crimes. The Prosecutor’s Office and the Police call on citizens to report any risk situation and recalled that there are immediate attention channels for victims of kidnapping, torture or intimate partner violence.
