A new and reprehensible case of sexual violence against a minor was registered in the department of Cesar. A man was captured in the municipality of Manaure after being caught allegedly abusing his six-year-old stepson inside his own residence.

The incident was discovered by members of the aggressor’s own family, who acted immediately and handed him over to the authorities, facilitating his capture in flagrante delicto.

Colonel Álex Durán, commander of the Valledupar Metropolitan Police, confirmed the procedure:

“This person was handed over by relatives, who reported that he was naked in his residence abusing a child under six years of age. Immediately, units of the Child and Adolescent Police made his capture effective,” said the Colonel.

After the arrest, the man was transferred to the Prosecutor’s Office headquarters for prosecution. He must answer for the serious crime of sexual abuse of a minor under 14 years of age.

The authorities reported that the capture has already been legalized and the hearing for the imposition of charges and request for a security measure has been held. At the moment, the identity of the detainee has not been revealed so as not to interfere with the investigation.

Parallel to the judicial action, the comprehensive care route for the victim was activated. The minor was immediately taken to a care center, where he received medical and psychological care.

Subsequently, the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF) assumed their protection and the restoration of their rights. The boy currently remains in institutional care while the legal process against his stepfather continues.
