In an operation that highlights the effectiveness of technology at the service of security, the National Police managed to capture a man accused of carrying illegal weapons and traveling on a motorcycle with altered identification systems.
The procedure was triggered in Comuna 14, specifically on Carrera 43A and Calle 10, after Medellín’s video surveillance cameras detected a suspicious vehicle.
Thanks to real-time monitoring from the control center, ground patrols were able to intercept the subject in the middle of Avenida El Poblado after an intense chase.
The sequence recorded by the cameras shows how two motorcyclists tried to evade the police cordon. One of the suspects abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot towards a residential area, entering the front garden of a hotel to try to hide among the vegetation.

However, the quick reaction of the uniformed officers allowed him to be located minutes later, finding in the same place the weapons he was carrying and the motorcycle whose license plate had been modified, presumably to facilitate the commission of thefts in the sector.

The detainee, along with the seized weapons and the immobilized motorcycle, was transferred and left at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office for their respective prosecution.
The authorities reported that this result is part of the reinforced surveillance strategies in the southern area of the city, where the use of vehicles with altered license plates has become a frequent modality for impact crimes.
After this coup, the Police continue with the analysis of the security images to identify the other motorcyclists who accompanied the person involved and determine their connection with criminal networks dedicated to theft in El Poblado.
