The District Secretariat of Security, Coexistence and Justice revealed in its podcast Voices of the City the unpublished details of the kidnapping of a businessman in the north of Bogotá, which occurred in June 2024, and how the authorities managed to capture those responsible a year later.
According to the story of the Gaula agent who led the investigation, the victim was approached when he was near his residence, on a day of rest. The criminals used an ambulance to carry out the kidnapping and avoid suspicion, while another vehicle followed their every movement.
Security cameras and videos that circulated on social networks showed the moment in which the attackers tried to take the businessman by force. In a desperate act, the man managed to escape, putting his life at risk.
Subsequent investigations determined that the kidnappers had monitored the victim’s steps for days, analyzing her routines, the environment of her home and the movements of her partner. The plan included coordination between vehicles, the use of fake sirens and choosing low-traffic residential areas to carry out the crime.

Thanks to the coordinated work between the Bogotá Metropolitan Police, the Gaula and the Attorney General’s Office, it was identified that those involved were a paramedic and an ambulance driver, hired by a third party to carry out the kidnapping. Both were captured in July 2025, believing that they had managed to evade justice.
The episode also highlights the fundamental role of citizen alert, which allowed the immediate intervention of the authorities and was key to reconstructing the escape route and locating those responsible.
The authorities recalled the importance of reporting any criminal or suspicious act in the city through Emergency Line 123, emphasizing that each report helps advance the fight against crime and strengthen security in Bogotá.
