A criminal judge with knowledge handed down a sentence against two members of the Ismael Ruiz structure, of the FARC dissidents, involved in the attack with explosives that cost the lives of seven police officers and left a uniformed officer injured in the rural area of ​​Neiva, Huila, on September 2, 2022.

The sentence was imposed after agreements with the Attorney General’s Office, which managed to prove his direct participation in the planning and execution of the attack.

Those sentenced are José Eliecer, alias Mauricio, leader of the structure, and Claudia Daniela, alias Juliana, who was also part of the armed group. Both accepted the charges and agreed to a reduction in their sentences in exchange for collaboration.

Alias ​​Mauricio, also linked to seven other selective murders in Huila and Tolima, received a sentence of 25 years and 10 months in prison for aggravated homicide, attempted homicide, conspiracy, qualified theft and illegal possession of weapons and explosives. His responsibility in the attack includes the execution of the armed attack and the use of explosive material against the police.

For her part, alias Juliana was sentenced to 23 years and 7 months in prison for the same crimes, after it was proven that she acquired and transported the batteries used to detonate the explosives as the police patrol passed by.

The Prosecutor’s Office established that both acted under orders from the Ismael Ruiz structure, a group that operates in the south of the country and that has intensified violent actions against the public force.

With these rulings, the Prosecutor’s Office reaffirms its commitment to prosecute those responsible for attacks against members of the public force.
