The kidnapping of Miguel Ayala, son of the renowned popular music singer Giovanny Ayala, was officially attributed to the dissidents of the former FARC, specifically the Jaime Martínez front, one of the most violent structures operating in Cauca.

The event, which has caused shock in the Colombian music industry and public opinion, occurred when the young artist was returning from a performance tour in the department and was heading towards Cali to board a flight to Bogotá.

As confirmed by the authorities, the abduction took place around 7:00 pm, when Miguel and his manager were traveling in a vehicle requested through a digital platform. Upon arriving in the area of ​​El Túnel de Cajibío, they were intercepted by armed men aboard two trucks, who identified themselves as members of the Jaime Martínez front.

The criminals subdued the two occupants and took them to the north of the department, an area where other structures such as the Dagoberto Ramos column also have a presence, both under the command of alias ‘Iván Mordisco’.

The commander of the Cali Metropolitan Police, Henry Yesid Bello Cubides, pointed out that the Gaula was activated immediately and that there is already a financial demand from the kidnappers. The institution maintains focused operations on the Pan-American Highway to try to find the whereabouts of the two detainees.

The driver of the vehicle, who was released at the same place, gave the first version to the authorities. Since then, the victims’ cell phones have remained turned off. Miguel Ayala’s last concert had been in the town of Huesito, municipality of El Tambo.

Given the kidnapping, Giovanny Ayala published a message requesting prudence and respect, while his daughter Natalia asked to avoid irresponsible comments on social networks. The family asked for understanding amid the uncertainty they are experiencing, while the country remains attentive to the search for the artist.
