Stevan Riascos Hernández was sentenced to 18 years and 5 months in prison for the crimes of attempted aggravated femicide and violent sexual intercourse, following the events that occurred on August 3 in Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca.

According to investigations, Riascos moved the victim to a room in a hostel, where he violently subdued her, dragging her along the floor until she was unconscious. The attack was recorded on security cameras, which were decisive for the judicial process.

The judge in charge of the case determined that, given the seriousness of the facts and the evidence collected, the aggressor should receive a sentence that included effective service in a prison. With this sentence, the aim is to send a strong message against the crimes of sexual violence and aggression against women.

The authorities called on victims to report any act of sexual violence and to trust in justice mechanisms, reiterating their commitment to guarantee protection and punishment against these crimes.
