The Attorney General’s Office charged two men accused of carrying out serious acts of animal abuse that occurred in Barranquilla, Atlántico and in the municipality of Cáqueza, Cundinamarca, in processes carried out with the support of the Special Group for the Fight against Animal Abuse (Gelma).

In the first case, a prosecutor from the Atlantic Section charged the crime of aggravated animal death to Haibib Mosquera, who is accused of causing the death of a Creole canine named Princesa on a public street in Barranquilla. According to the investigation, the man would have taken the animal by the limbs and hit it repeatedly against the floor, events that were recorded on October 27.

Thanks to the evidentiary material elements collected, Mosquera was captured by units of the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) and the National Police. During the concentrated hearings, the defendant did not accept the charge brought by the Prosecutor’s Office.

Case of alleged sexual acts against a canine

The second process is being carried out in Cáqueza, Cundinamarca, where the Prosecutor’s Office charged Jhon Parrado with the crime of injuries that seriously impair the health or physical integrity of the animal, aggravated. The man is accused of having performed sexual acts against a Creole dog named Galleta, events that occurred on December 4.

According to the prosecuting body, the accusation was based on information provided by the public and on evidence that would show the alleged responsibility of the accused. Parrado López was captured by the authorities and, during the hearing, he accepted the charge against him.

The Prosecutor’s Office reiterated that this type of behavior constitutes crimes punishable by criminal law in the country. Likewise, he called on citizens to promptly report any incident of animal abuse to the competent authorities.
