An act of violence altered the tranquility of the La Paz neighborhood, in the town of Bosa, southwest of Bogotá, when a confrontation between residents and recyclers ended with the incineration of a motorcycle and four people injured, including a minor of just one year old.

According to the authorities, the situation arose last Saturday, February 7, in the afternoon, when an argument between a group of recyclers and the administrator of a recycler in the sector quickly escalated into a fight.

During the conflict, a man traveling on a motorcycle activated a revolver, generating panic among those present and provoking the immediate reaction of the community, which decided to burn the vehicle involved as a defense measure against the threat.

Lieutenant Colonel Óscar Chauta, commander of the Bosa Police Station, confirmed that the altercation left four people injured, including a one-year-old child, who was transferred to the Bosa Hospital to receive specialized medical care. The other affected people were also treated by medical personnel, although the Police have not detailed the health status of all the injured.

The police intervention occurred thanks to the neighbors’ complaint, which allowed units from the Bosa Police Station to quickly arrive at the scene and manage to control the situation before the violence escalated even further.

The authorities reported that several people involved in the incident were captured and placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office, while the corresponding investigations are carried out to establish responsibilities and clarify the exact circumstances of the events.

The officer called on the community to avoid taking the law into their own hands and recalled that any disturbance of public order must be reported immediately to line 123, in order to prevent situations of intolerance from leading to violent events that could affect citizens.

This episode makes it clear how situations of intolerance can lead to dangerous consequences, highlighting the importance of immediate intervention by the Police.
