On a day where the roar of engines from other eras was the protagonist, Cali experienced one of the most anticipated events of its Fair: the Parade of Classic and Antique Cars. More than a vehicle tour, it was a journey through time that connected grandparents, parents and children through automotive history.

From 3:00 pm, the journey that began in Comfandi del Prado transformed into a traveling museum. More than 200 vehicles, manufactured between the 1930s and 1990s, paraded impeccably before the gaze of nearly 18,000 attendees who filled the stands and road shoulders.

A luxury guest and mechanical legends

The parade had a world-class presence: Cali driver Óscar Tunjo, who graced the route aboard a Mercedes Benz SL. “As a motorist, it will always be a pride to be here and share with the Cali public doing what I am most passionate about,” said Tunjo, who was one of those most applauded by the crowd.

Along with him, passionate citizens like Adriana Velásquez showed their family treasures. Adriana paraded in a model 82 with barely 150 thousand kilometers, a vehicle that she takes care of throughout the year exclusively for this day. “We’ve been to the parade about three times now and it’s always exciting,” he said.

Civics: The big winner of the day

Despite the crowd, the event took place completely normally. Respect for the security fences and the behavior of the attendees allowed the three-hour tour (ending on Calle 70) to be a celebration of joy and photographs.

For attendees like Mauricio Meléndez, this parade is the soul of the festivity: “This is the best thing that can happen to Cali. Here people forget about the problems and come to enjoy.”
