The Attorney General’s Office made significant progress in clarifying the murder of university professor James, a crime that shocked Medellín in October 2024.
According to the prosecution, the victim was taken under threats to a pedestrian path on El Volador hill, where he was stripped of his belongings.
The investigation details that the criminals were looking not only for the professor’s cell phone, but also for his financial keys to loot his bank accounts. In the midst of the intimidation, a struggle occurred between the victim and his attackers, at which time the teacher was fatally attacked with a knife.

James’ body was found in the wooded area, while those responsible were tracked down after using the stolen cards to make money withdrawals at various ATMs in the city.

Despite the evidence presented, José did not accept the charges of aggravated homicide and qualified robbery. However, a guarantee control judge considered that the defendant represents a danger to society, especially after learning that on the same day of the murder, another citizen was assaulted and injured in similar conditions in the same sector, presumably by the same criminal group that was involved in the fatal struggle with the professor.
The Prosecutor’s Office continues with intelligence work to identify the other accomplices who participated in the assault and subsequent death of the academic.
