The evidence presented by the Attorney General’s Office allowed a man to be declared responsible for the crime of his two-year-old and five-month-old stepson, in events that occurred in a home in the La Concordia neighborhood of Cúcuta (Norte de Santander).

In this sense, he was sentenced to 50 years in prison for his responsibility in the crimes of homicide, torture and domestic violence, all of which were aggravated.

According to the investigation, the events occurred in the house where the minor lived with his mother and the convicted person. On July 22, 2022, the child was taken to a health center in critical condition and died shortly after.

Initially, the mother stated that the victim had fallen down the stairs; However, the judicial police activities carried out by the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) in coordination with the SIJIN made it possible to establish that the version was not true.

The opinion of the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences determined that the child’s death was caused by multiple injuries caused by systematic blows.

The 24-year-old convict is being held in the maximum security center where he must serve his sentence.

This decision is of first instance and legal remedies are available against it.
