Minute30.com .- President Gustavo Petro has ignited diplomatic controversy by denouncing that Colombia’s presidential plane had problems refueling in Cape Verde (Africa) during its journey from Bogotá to Saudi Arabia, attributing the problem to pressure from the United States.

Petro Points to an American Company:

The president revealed that the Colombian Air Force (FAC) had hired a US company to supply fuel outside the country, an error that, according to him, should never have happened.

“It was the North American company with which the FAC contracted all its gasoline outside the country, something that should never have happened, and the place was Cape Verde, in Africa,” Petro said.

Petro assured that this situation was a “humiliation of the United States”, suggesting that the effects of the threats of inclusion in the Clinton List and the growing tensions with Washington are already being felt. Finally, the presidential plane had to refuel in Spain.

The Pulse with Donald Trump:

The Colombian president directly linked this mishap to political persecution, referring to Donald Trump’s recent statements:

“The world knows that Trump is after me, because I opposed the genocide in Gaza and crime in the Caribbean and not because I carried cocaine or because I had a mafia niece and sister-in-law, or uncle or because I was in Pablo Escobar’s cartel…”

Petro’s complaint highlights the critical point in relations between Colombia and the United States.
