The National Institute for Food and Drug Surveillance (Invima) set off alarms throughout the country after detecting the illegal marketing of products that promise miraculous anesthetic and antiseptic effects.

Through a new health alert, the entity warned that articles such as “No Pain Numbing” and “Xteri-Numb No Pain” are circulating fraudulently, mainly on social networks such as Instagram and websites, without having the mandatory health registration for their sale in Colombia.

These products are promoted as ideal solutions for reducing pain in tattoo, microblanding (PMU) and aesthetic procedures.

According to misleading advertising, they offer nerve blocks for up to four hours thanks to high concentrations of lidocaine. However, being fraudulent in nature, its manufacturing has not been supervised, which means that the consumer has no idea what substances they are actually applying to their skin.

Invima was emphatic in pointing out that the absence of registration prevents it from guaranteeing that the content is safe or that it has been transported in optimal conditions.

The risks for those who decide to use these creams are not minor. The health authority warned that, beyond a simple irritation or allergic reaction on the skin, the unknown components of these fraudulent items can cause severe damage to vital organs such as the liver, pancreas and kidneys.

Given this situation, Invima recommends that citizens immediately suspend the use of these products and always verify the health registration number on the entity’s official website before purchasing any medication or aesthetic supplies online.
