The atmosphere of the Colombian soccer final heated up even more this Wednesday, December 11, when officials from the Ministry of Labor carried out a surprise general inspection at the administrative headquarters of the Deportes Tolima club.
The visit took place a few hours before the ‘Pijao’ team played the first game of the league’s grand final against Junior de Barranquilla.
The inspection was a direct response to complaints filed by the Colombian Association of Professional Soccer Players (ACOLFUTPRO), the players’ union.
ACOLFUTPRO expressed its satisfaction with the action of the labor portfolio, highlighting the commitment of Minister Antonio Sanguino and Vice Minister Sandra Milena Muñoz with compliance with the Labor Law, including in the field of professional football.

The union has denounced that Deportes Tolima has committed a systematic violation of the fundamental rights of footballers.
According to the union, the club has allegedly prevented union meetings from taking place within its facilities.
The team, ACOLFUTPRO denounced, had refused to make the deductions authorized by its members for the payment of their union dues, failing to comply with the provisions of the Substantive Labor Code.
The ‘union’ stressed that it is “unacceptable” that these rights are denied to the footballers, who with their performance have led the club to play in the league final.
The news of the inspection focused on the employment situation of the footballers just at the moment of greatest sporting tension, underlining that the law must be complied with for the protagonists on the field.
