The city of Medellín became the epicenter of elegance and aquatic skill with the start of the first stop of the 2026 Artistic Swimming World Cup.

The event, which takes place at the César Zapata Aquatic Complex, started last Friday, February 13, with a day marked by a very high technical level and the participation of renowned international delegations.

For Colombia, the debut represented a crucial opportunity to measure its progress against the world’s elite, consolidating a sporting process that is already bearing fruit on the international stage.

In the men’s category, the local delegation was almost on the podium thanks to the outstanding routine of Gustavo Sánchez, who obtained fourth position in the Technical Solo.

For his part, the young swimmer Nicolás Tascón added valuable points and experience by finishing in ninth place in the same event.

Meanwhile, in the female branch, Emily Minante and Melisa Ceballos represented the country, occupying places 12 and 14, respectively, in a final led by the Canadian Audrey Lamothe, who took the gold.

National talent also shone in the team and duet events. The Mixed Technical Duet, made up of Emily Minante and Gustavo Sánchez, achieved a solid fifth position, reaffirming its growth and synchrony in one of the most demanding modalities of the contest.

Likewise, in the technical team final, the Colombian team reached fourth place, once again being one step away from the medals and demonstrating that the country has a competitive base capable of fighting for the first places in the world ranking.

After the positive balance of the first day, the competitions continue to attract the attention of fans with an intense programming.

The Women’s Technical Duet tests open the afternoon activity, followed by the Free Solo finals in both branches.

The closing of the day will be the spectacular free team routine, where it is expected that the creativity and physical power of the athletes will continue to captivate the judges in the capital of Antioquia.
