Minute30.com .- Those who thought that because it was Friday after Christmas the roads of Medellín would be clear, found themselves in a bitter surprise. Since the early hours of this December 26, a large vehicle paralysis has been recorded on Regional Avenue, in the distributor lane, south-north direction, mainly affecting the connectivity between Sabaneta, Envigado and Itagüí.
The citizen report indicates that the congestion begins from the Mayorca bridge and extends uninterruptedly until the exit of the Ayurá bridge. The Vía Distribuidora lane is completely collapsed, turning a trip of a few minutes into a wait of almost an hour.
Lack of planning?
The cause of the traffic jam is not an accident or a stranded vehicle, but rather a maintenance crew that is painting the road markings on the lanes. The partial closure of the road to allow the paint to dry has reduced the capacity of the road at a time when, against all odds, the traffic flow is high.
The question that dozens of drivers stuck in the traffic jam ask is one: Why were these jobs not carried out at night? “It’s incredible that on a Friday at noon they decide to close lanes to paint. Did they think there were no people in the city? The Regional Distribuidora is a scary taco and the heat doesn’t help,” commented one of the affected drivers through the citizen reports of Minute30.
