In the town of Suba, north of Bogotá, an aesthetic clinic was sanctioned after being caught dumping hospital and biological waste on public roads, a fact that put both the health of the community and the environment at risk. The intervention was carried out on the North Highway with 102nd Street, in front of a container where waste used in intravenous treatments and protective material for medical personnel were found.
The establishment received a type IV fine, which exceeds 700,000 pesos. This type of sanction is applied to those who fail to comply with the regulations on hospital waste management, whose improper management can have serious consequences for public health.
Armando Ojeda, director of the Special Administrative Unit of Public Services (UAESP), assured that “this waste generates a risk for the environment and public health; the regulations require medical centers to properly dispose of waste through a specialized operator.”

These institutions carried out the inspection and confirmed the presence of waste on public roads, which led to the sanction.
