A guarantee control judge imposed a security measure in a prison against a man accused of causing the death of his three-year-old son, in a case that has shaken Valle del Cauca due to the signs of systematic abuse revealed during the investigation.
The incident occurred on November 24 in a home in the El Vergel neighborhood, where, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, the minor suffered serious injuries that did not match the version given by the alleged aggressor. The man claimed that the boy had fainted before taking a bath and took him to a health center; However, doctors noticed clear signs of violence.

The autopsy report confirmed that the child died from a combination of rib fractures, a lung laceration and massive hemorrhage in the chest cavity, injuries that led to acute respiratory failure. The experts also identified old wounds, compatible with repeated episodes of abuse.
The man was presented before a prosecutor from the Children and Adolescents Unit, who charged him with the crime of aggravated homicide. Although the defendant denied the charges during the hearings, the judge determined that he represented a risk and ordered his confinement in a prison facility while the process progresses.
