The Attorney General’s Office obtained 21 convictions in Cali, Valle del Cauca, against 23 men and one woman responsible for crimes against life. The cases involve 22 victims: 13 managed to survive after receiving medical attention, while 9 died from their injuries.

Among the crimes for which those responsible were convicted were homicide, attempted homicide, attempted feminicide, illegal possession of firearms, qualified robbery and illegal use of insignia, all of them aggravated according to the circumstances of each case.

One of the most serious cases involved Andrés Tróchez, Olegario Urrea and Fabián Ochoa, who were sentenced to 41 years and 4 months in prison for the homicide of a couple that occurred on April 7, 2020 in the El Caney neighborhood. The three were found responsible for homicide, illegal possession of weapons, aggravated robbery and illegal use of insignia.

Another relevant case was that of Nilson Arismendi, sentenced to 17 years and 4 months in prison for attempted aggravated femicide. On May 6, 2023, Arismendi attacked his former partner with glass seven times during a conjugal visit in a prison. The victim managed to survive.

Likewise, Julián Rincón received a sentence of 8 years and 7 months in prison for aggravated homicide and qualified robbery, both attempted. On September 19, 2024, he attacked a woman with a sharp weapon to steal her cell phone; Fortunately, the victim managed to survive.

In the other 18 sentences, different perpetrators were convicted for similar crimes. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, sharp weapons were used in 12 of these events, which reflects a pattern of recurring violence in these crimes.

The sentences seek to send a message of responsibility and justice in the face of acts that put the lives and safety of citizens in Cali at risk.
