In unfortunate news for national sport, the Colombian Cycling Federation has confirmed that the Tour Colombia will not take place in the 2026 season.
The decision is due to the impossibility of gathering all the necessary resources to guarantee the technical, logistical and sporting standards required by an international UCI 2.1 category competition.
Despite the exhaustive management efforts led by President Rubén Darío Galeano and the Executive Committee, the confirmed financial contributions were insufficient to cover the magnitude of the event.
According to the Federation’s analysis, the average investment exceeds 10,000 million Colombian pesos.
According to the statement, during 2025 approaches were made with private companies, large conglomerates and strategic allies to consolidate a sustainable financial scheme.
However, they indicated, although there was interest and partial support, the economic gap was decisive.
The cancellation shows the enormous logistical and financial dimension involved in organizing the Tour Colombia.
The consolidated budget from previous editions reveals essential million-dollar items, in accommodation and food for example, the figure amounts to 2,578 million pesos.
In terms of general logistics, road safety and technical assembly, a total of 4,133 million pesos.

Regarding air transport, the figure is 1,383 million pesos and in awards, UCI rights and insurance a total of 450 million pesos
The cancellation affects an event that in its previous editions generated an economic impact of close to 40,000 million pesos in the host departments and reached a television audience of more than 20 million viewers.
The Cycling Federation ratified its commitment to work for the return of the Tour Colombia, given its importance not only in sports, but also as an economic engine and tourism promoter of Colombia to the world.
President Galeano and the Executive Committee announced that they will maintain efforts during the remainder of 2025 and throughout 2026 to strengthen institutional alliances, secure new sponsors and consolidate a long-term sustainability model.
The FCC’s goal is clear: “preserve the essence of the Tour Colombia as a symbolic event of the country” and guarantee that the event returns to the UCI’s international calendar with the quality that has characterized it.
