An inter-institutional intervention carried out in the Bellavista metropolitan park, in the town of Kennedy, resulted in the recovery of large areas of public space and a direct impact on dynamics associated with micro-trafficking, extortion and other illegal economies that had been affecting this sector of high citizen attendance.
The action, led by the District Secretariat of Security, Coexistence and Justice, had the support of the National Police, Gaula, Migration Colombia, the Kennedy Local Mayor’s Office, the Government Secretariat and technical staff of the ETB. The operation focused on points previously identified by authorities as hotbeds of illegal activity and disorder.
One of the main results was the recovery of 9,384 square meters of public space, after the removal of street vendors that operated without authorization. According to the authorities, these points facilitated the marketing of contraband merchandise, the sale of narcotics and the commission of other crimes that affected security and coexistence in the area.
During the day, controls were also carried out on commercial activity. In total, 18 establishments were inspected and two of them were suspended for not complying with current regulations. In parallel, 325 people were registered and two summonses were imposed in application of the National Code of Security and Citizen Coexistence.
In terms of seizures, the authorities removed from circulation 19 bottles of contraband liquor, packs of illegal cigarettes, medications with altered expiration dates, 30 marijuana cigarettes and several sharp weapons.

Likewise, 40 ETB secondary network terminals and several cell phones were seized for improper manipulation of the communications infrastructure. The adulterated liquor was placed under the custody of the Police inspection for its subsequent denaturation.
The preventive component was also a central part of the intervention. Gaula officials carried out awareness-raising activities with 78 citizens, within the framework of the “I don’t pay, I report” campaign, aimed at preventing extortion and collecting information on possible criminal structures operating in the sector. For its part, Migración Colombia verified the immigration status and judicial records of 20 people.
Regarding mobility control, under the Plan Cazador strategy, the identification systems of 78 motorcycles and 39 vehicles were reviewed, with the aim of preventing vehicle theft and other related crimes.
The District Security Secretariat pointed out that these types of interventions seek to sustainably weaken illegal economies, improve security conditions and return public space to citizens. In addition, he announced that the mega-takes will continue to be carried out in different parts of Bogotá as part of the comprehensive strategy to strengthen order and coexistence.
Finally, the authorities reiterated the call to the community to report any criminal act through Emergency Line 123, highlighting that citizen collaboration is key to maintaining the results of these actions over time.
