A day of tension was experienced in Bogotá after the disappearance of a foreign tourist on the Monserrate hill. The man, identified as Nangyl Tenzing, an American mountaineer of Indian origin, was reported missing on Sunday, after entering an unauthorized area of the eastern hills on his own.
According to the authorities, the visitor, 48 years old, was staying in a hotel in the center of the capital and had decided to climb the mountain without company, apparently along a path outside the official system. Hours later, he managed to communicate with his sister abroad, whom he informed that he was disoriented and could not find the exit. Search and rescue protocols were immediately activated.

Throughout the night, units of the Official Bogotá Fire Department, with support from the Specialized Rescue Group (GER), canine pairs and reconnaissance drones, worked tirelessly to find his whereabouts. On Monday morning, after several hours of operations coordinated by the Unified Command Post (PMU), the hiker was located alive in an area that is difficult to access.
