Minute30.com .- The Democratic Center party, led by former president Álvaro Uribe, announced today that Miguel Uribe Londoño was expelled and will no longer be part of its list of candidates for the presidential elections next May.
The political organization reported on its social networks that Uribe Londoño chose to support the criminal lawyer Abelardo De La Espriella, who is currently seeking candidatures for signatures.
The decision has generated controversy, since Uribe Londoño protested firmly after the party’s announcement, ensuring that “I neither resign nor they will resign me.” His statement contradicts the statement issued by the community, which excludes him from the internal consultation due to his support for De la Espriella.
The internal Party process continues
The Democratic Center confirmed that, after the departure of Uribe Londoño, it will choose its presidential candidate among the three remaining candidates, María Fernanda Cabal, Paloma Valencia and Paola Holguín, through an electoral college and a digital survey among its militants. The party refers to a recent survey by Cifras y Conceptos from November, which measured the preferences among its candidates.
