The evidence provided by the Attorney General’s Office allowed a knowledgeable judge to sentence Yessica Katherine Barrera to 8 years and 3 months in prison, who admitted her responsibility for the crime of aggravated attempted homicide.

The judicial decision is adopted after the now sentenced woman freely, spontaneously and with the advice of her lawyer signed a preliminary agreement with the Attorney General’s Office in which she admitted that on May 17 she had attacked a 30-year-old man who was passing through the GarcĂa Rovira neighborhood of Bucaramanga with a sharp weapon.

The attack would have been committed because the citizen refused to give a coin to the alleged aggressor. The timely medical attention provided to the victim saved his life.

The aggressor was captured in flagrante delicto by uniformed members of the National Police. By decision of the guarantee control judge, the convicted person must serve the sentence in a prison.
