The tranquility of eastern Cali was interrupted during the night of last Friday, December 26, after an attack with a fragmentation grenade in the Marroquín I neighborhood, an event that generated panic among residents and forced a wide deployment of security by the authorities.
The attack took place on Transversal 103 and Diagonal 26P, where unknown men threw the explosive device against a commercial establishment.
The detonation caused chaos in the area and left at least four people injured, including a taxi driver who was dropping off passengers at the scene.

According to information provided by the Cali Metropolitan Police, three of the injured were traveling in the public service vehicle and another was traveling through the sector at the time of the explosion.
The victims suffered injuries caused by shrapnel in different parts of the body, as a result of the blast wave. Some minors were also indirectly affected, although without serious injuries.

General Edwin Urrego, commander of the Metropolitan Police, explained that a patrol was carrying out routine checks when the detonation occurred, which allowed an immediate reaction from the units. The injured were taken to nearby healthcare centers, where they receive medical attention.
Given the seriousness of the incident, the authorities announced a reward of up to $200 million pesos for anyone who provides information that allows the identification and capture of those responsible. In addition, a lock plan was activated in various parts of the city and the analysis of security cameras in the sector began.
This attack joins a series of violent events that keep the authorities and the Cali community on alert.
