Speed canoeing at the 2025 Bolivarian Games began on the right foot for Colombia this Monday on La Arenilla beach in Callao, Peru.
The national delegation had a solid opening day by winning a total of three medals in the 200 meter events: two gold and one silver.
The coffee team demonstrated its high level by starring in highly contested finals, especially against powers such as Chile and Venezuela, leaving excellent expectations for the remaining days of the competition.
The first medal for the country came in the K4 women’s 200 meters category, where the team made up of Yerly Muñoz, Mónica Hincapié, Sandra Scalia and Angie Rodríguez won the silver medal by registering a time of 38.97 seconds, being only behind the Chilean quartet (38.10).
The team’s momentum quickly translated into the first golden joy in the final of the men’s C2 200 meters, thanks to the spectacular performance of Alejandro Rodríguez and Daniel Pacheco, who stopped the clock at 40.95 seconds to secure the gold, beating the pairs from Ecuador and Venezuela.

The winning streak culminated in another celebration in the final of the women’s K2 200 meters. The duo composed of Diexe Molina and Mónica Hincapié (who added her second medal of the day) took the gold with a resounding mark of 42.42 seconds.
The Colombians clearly prevailed over their rivals, beating Venezuela (43.74) and Chile (43.94). In contrast, in the men’s K1 200 meters, Miguel Pinzón closed his participation in fifth position with a time of 42.27.
With this brilliant performance on the opening day, Colombia has added two golds and one silver, securing half of the six medals awarded on this first day of competitions.
Speed canoeing will continue until Friday, November 28, with a delegation of 15 national athletes who will seek to continue achieving victories in the different categories of individual, pair and team events.
