The Colombian soccer team has begun its path in the 2025 FIFA World Cup Qatar with a valuable 1-1 draw against Germany, the current champion of the tournament, in the premiere of Group G.
The team led by Fredy Hurtado showed character and resilience after an adverse start, managing to recover from the Germans’ early goal.
The game couldn’t have started in a worse way for the ‘Sele’. Just one minute had passed when Germany, taking advantage of a play on the right wing, sent a back pass that allowed Langsteiner to define and put the champions ahead.
Despite the initial blow, the Colombian team maintained its composure. Although they did not manage to create clear dangerous options in the first half, the break served to readjust the strategy.
Colombia’s change of pace and attitude was noticeable from the start of the second half. The constant search for an equalizer bore fruit in the 57th minute thanks to Juan Cataño’s score, which restored equality on the scoreboard.
