Our country’s weightlifting delegation had a spectacular start at the XX Bolivarian Games Ayacucho – Lima 2025, held at the 03 de la Videna Sports Center.

During the Sunday day of November 23, national athletes won a total of three gold medals, five silver and one bronze, adding nine medals on the first day of competitions.

The focus was on the snatch categories, where three weightlifters managed to climb to the top of the Bolivarian podium.

Those in charge of inaugurating the national domain were Héctor Andrés Viveros (60 kg) and Héctor Armando García (65 kg), both with outstanding performance.

Viveros was proclaimed champion in the snatch category with an impressive record of 120 kg, also securing a silver in the clean and jerk (141 kg).

For his part, García imitated the feat in the 65 kg, winning gold in the snatch with 134 kg, and closing his participation with another silver medal in the clean and jerk (165 kg).

The third gold of the day came via the female route thanks to Rohelys Galvis in the 53 kilogram category. Galvis showed his power in the snatch by lifting 88 kg, enough to win the Bolivarian title.

The weightlifter also contributed to the general medal table with a silver in the clean and jerk modality, where she registered a weight of 105 kg. His performance was key to consolidating the delegation’s initial advantage.

In addition to the champions, other national athletes had outstanding performances. Andrés Felipe Manzano won two silver medals in the men’s 71 kg, with records of 145 kg in the snatch and 166 kg in the clean and jerk.

In the women’s 58 kg category, Gelen Torres won the bronze medal in the snatch at 92 kg, although she later had to withdraw from the competition due to injury.

With a balance of three golds, five silvers and one bronze, the weightlifting delegation has established a solid precedent.

The action will continue this Monday, November 24, with the participation of six more athletes, including Juan Camilo Martínez (79 kg), Yesion López (88 kg), Luis Miguel Quiñones (94 kg), Yenny Sinisterra (63 kg), Julieth Rodríguez (69 kg) and Mari Leivis Sánchez (77 kg), who will seek to continue expanding the medal harvest for the country.
