Colombian karate had a day to remember this Friday at the XX Bolivarian Games Ayacucho – Lima 2025, winning two gold medals and a bronze that confirm the country’s power on the continental tatami.
The first joy came in the morning, when the women’s Kata team won the Bolivarian title.
The squad made up of Carolina Montes, Sara Cardona and Leidy Castaño demonstrated superior technique, beating Venezuela in the semifinals and defeating the host Peru with a score of 38.9 – 37.5 in the final played at the San Ignacio de Loyola University.
Later, in the Kumite modality, the turn was for Juan Felipe Landázuri in the men’s 75 kilogram category.
Landázuri had an impeccable performance by leading the Round Robin of his category, adding a total of nine points after achieving three wins, which earned him the gold medal.

The Colombian medal table was completed with the performance of Natalia Bernal in the 61 kg. female Kumite.
Bernal climbed to the third step of the podium thanks to his three points, obtaining the bronze medal. The gold went to the Venezuelan Antonia Garcés and the silver to the Peruvian Alexandra Grande.
“This outstanding day reaffirms the commitment and talent of our athletes, raising the name of Colombia in this discipline,” says a spokesperson for the delegation.
Colombian karate will continue its participation this Saturday, December 6, in the Bolivarian Games with the men’s team Kata competitions.
Additionally with Kumite tests in the -84 kg categories. men and -68 kg. women’s events, where coffee athletes are expected to continue adding wins.
