The popular music singer Giovanny Ayala publicly referred to the distressing situation that his family faces after the kidnapping of his son, Miguel Ayala, and his manager, Jairo Maturana, on a road in the department of Cauca. Through an Instagram story, the artist asked for restraint amid the uncertainty they are going through.

“Right now my family and I are going through an extremely difficult situation,” Ayala began in his message, in which he also asked to avoid any kind of comments that could generate harm or misinformation. “I ask you to please respect and prudence. This is not the time for hurtful comments, speculation or misplaced judgments,” he added.

The arrest occurred on the night of November 18 when Miguel and his companion were traveling along the Pan-American highway, in the sector known as El Túnel, between Piendamó and Cajibío. Both were traveling to the airport after a musical presentation held days before in the department.

According to preliminary information, both were intercepted by four armed men who had installed an illegal checkpoint in the area, where dissident structures operate.

While the search efforts continue, Ayala highlighted the expressions of solidarity they have received since the case became known. “We thank those who have shown support and empathy,” he wrote. He also insisted that his family is going through moments of deep anguish: “The only thing we ask is consideration for the pain and uncertainty we are experiencing.”

The authorities are carrying out operations and intelligence in rural areas of Cajibío, but until now there is no accurate information about the whereabouts of Miguel or his manager. There has also been no reported contact from those responsible or financial demands.
