The Colombia Men’s U-17 National Team continues its preparation for the CONMEBOL U-17 in 2026 under the technical direction of Fredy Hurtado.

The strategist has defined the group of players who will make up the second work microcycle of the year, which will take place entirely in the city of Barranquilla.

This preparation phase will last from February 18 to 28, focusing on strengthening the tactical system and cohesion of the youth group at the Sports Headquarters of the Colombian Football Federation.

The highlight of this concentration will be the dispute of two high-level friendly matches against its counterpart from Brazil.

The first match is scheduled for Tuesday, February 24 at 6:30 pm, while the second match against the Brazilians will take place on Friday, February 27 starting at 5:00 pm.

Both matches will take place at the FCF facilities in the Atlantic capital, serving as an ideal thermometer to evaluate the progress of those called up against one of the continental powers.

Among those called up are Luigi Joel Ortiz Mañunga from Deportivo Cali, Samuel Martínez Valencia from Atlético Nacional, and talents from other clubs such as Millonarios FC, Deportivo Pereira and Alianza Valledupar.

This mix of soccer players from various regions of the country seeks to consolidate a competitive gaming identity before the South American competition.

Likewise, the international list adds an interesting nuance to the national process. Among those chosen by Hurtado, the names of Álex Gómez, from the Red Bulls of the United States, and Gorka Abascal Martínez, who comes from the minor divisions of Real Madrid in Spain, stand out.

These reinforcements from abroad will join the local base to try to secure a definitive spot on the roster that will represent Colombia in the official challenges of the 2026 season.
