The victim reported the incident, which allowed the initiation of a disciplinary and criminal process that culminated in the conviction.

The sentence was imposed in the first instance, but the defense of the former uniformed man decided to appeal to the Criminal Chamber of the Superior Court of Medellín, seeking to review the judicial decision.

The Prosecutor’s Office highlighted that this case shows the importance of timely complaints and permanent surveillance within institutions where there is a hierarchical relationship. He also recalled that aggressors who take advantage of their role or authority face aggravating circumstances in criminal proceedings.
