On the morning of this Tuesday, December 9, hooded individuals caused a fire in an office of the Jaime Isaza Cadavid Polytechnic.
The event, which was recorded in videos broadcast on social networks, sparked concern among students and teachers, who quickly alerted the authorities.
According to preliminary information, about ten hooded individuals forcibly entered an administrative block, sprayed flammable substances and set fire to an office, putting those nearby at risk.
The mayor of Medellín, Federico Gutiérrez, immediately spoke out through his X account, where he described the event as terrorism and warned that for months he had been warning about the presence of violent groups on the campus.

“What happens inside the Jaime Isaza Cadavid Polytechnic is absurd. 10 hooded men set fire to an office inside the institution. That is terrorism, it has no other name. They took the Poli. I have been warning about it”wrote the president.

Gutiérrez insisted that a very small group of hooded people is affecting the vast majority of students, who claim to feel intimidated and see the development of academic activities hindered.
“No more excuses. Out with the violent ones from public universities. The directives must do something. They ignore these situations,” he added.
For now, authorities are reviewing security cameras and carrying out intelligence work to identify those responsible.
